Breakers Covenant Church International Receives National Grant Funding Of $250,000

Breakers Covenant Church International has received $250,000.00 from the National Fund for Sacred Places, a program of Partners for Sacred Places in collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation

This funding will support our 18 month renovation project. The NFSP grant will allow us to begin our project to repair crucial areas of the building, which in turn will significantly increase the space needed for our diverse programs that address mental health, family and social welfare, job readiness, and financial strength for North End neighborhood residents and the greater Detroit community by stabilizing critical areas inside and outside the building. Areas include spalling the shifting of loose bricks and limestone, replacing exterior windows & stairs, and restoring the gymnasium.

Breakers Covenant Church International is one of 16 organizations to receive a total of over $3.5 million in grant funding that provides training, planning grants, technical assistance, capacity-building support, and capital grants to congregations of all faiths.

Now in its eighth year, the National Fund has awarded or pledged over $21.5 million to 113 community-serving congregations representing 39 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. So far, this grantmaking has resulted in over $3 leveraged for every grant dollar invested in participating congregations.
